Even in awesome sps dominated tanks you'll find some algae. Personally I think is unrealistic to expect tanks to algae free.
Besides Turbos there are many other inverts that you can house long term that will assist in keeping the algae manageable. Urchins, Abalone and other snail types.
You can try to out compete with macro algae or ATS(algae turf scrubber)......

The thread does offer an excellent 1st account of what worked for a hobbyist. The thread is 6-7 years old.

For now I'll leave it open.

Algae issues are always a good discussion but I believe in 6-7 years there are more alternatives such as GFO in reactors or ATF. While both have been around for a long time the discussion regarding their use is more common today. What is old is new.
