    People could follow that step by step which is really nice.

    I noticed you have the end of the hose underwater in your tank. Any concern about a reverse siphon? Or does the air-tight jug prevent that?

    thanks!

    and no not really worried about it siphoning, i turned it on off several times ,killed the power, etc no siphoning,
    and plus it is only about 1/2 an inch into the water

    (i didn't seal the jug yet but i might with a little bit of silicone)

    sort of lol
    when we go to the aquarium stores in sac and i get like $100 dollars or so in corals/supplies he just goes, "you spent more today then i have on aquarium stuff my whole life." ;D

    I think this thread explains it: It gets complicated the more you read on, but they discuss how a float switch is a low voltage switch and that overtime from use it can eventually stick on. The just recommend to build a 12v based system with a relay to operate the switching.

    hmm...
    from what i can tell from some reading they are saying that the heat caused from it being on makes it fail?
    if that is the case im not sure i am that worried about it because it goes on for about 30-45 seconds when its on then its off for a long time.
