I just run my ac at 76 24-7 and it keeps my tank and I happy ! Tank stays 79-80 at all times. Cheaper than a chiller ( although still expesive ) but at least I get to enjoy it as well.

I have metal halides and use room fans to properly maintain ideal water temperatures.

I have a chiller to cool my tank, and a AC unit to cool my chiller (air flow in room isn't that great and it blows fuses if the room gets too hot). Its great, on really hot days I just hang out in the fish room. I've been spending way more time with the tank this summer so far 8)

Tanks are in our detached garage with no central air. Temps were getting pretty high so we bought a small window AC unit. The AC was not able to keep up with all the MH lights so we went to a reverse light cycle (On @ 6:00PM off @ 3:00AM). This seems to be working so far.

I've lost 5 shrimps, large coral goby and diamond spotted goby because of overheating! My tank looks like small radioactive lake near Czarnobyl ... I've ordered new cleaning crew, and now thinking about decent sand bed cleaners + DELTEC chiller ... NO PAIN NO GAME!

i have a 120 in the kitchen under a ceiling fan that runs 24/7 keeps the evaporation high but the temp never goes over 80,, upstairs is a whole another story the tanks up here are running between 82 and 91 the only marine tank up here is a 29gallon "gladiator"tank with things i catch off the beach{new england} for tropicals a damsel a monaco shrimp and 3 condy anemones are dealing with it, since the heats gone up everything native to new england has died:( 2 cool red crabs,a bunch of baby shrimp,a starfish a handful of snails a 7inch long worm a small fish i caught accidently and every manner of algae/plantlife on the beach... all gone. they were thriving, i have plans of making a chiller with an old minifrig pretty soon here because i actually enjoy this tank more than my "real" one.
