Is this purple cap healthy?

So its a goner huh, ill pull it out tonight when I get home. So with montis I should start low and move it up gradually over a week or so?

 

Starting mid to lower in the tank with monti has worked for me. I leave them their for about a week and move them up some.

I would just leave it and see if it has any tissue left, sometimes they look dead but they are not.

 

Ok, if it is dead it won't cause an ammonia spike will it, bc of the decaying flesh?

 

it's too small for a spike imho, and I would not give up on it just yet. I've got one (at least I think it's one lol) that I got from a guy a little over a month ago and it got a little worse in my tank at first (it completely bleached) and I kept it just to see what happens with a bleached coral. It's starting to come back now, very slowly but it's alive and getting some color. I now am starting to think it's not monti cap though.

 

Good deal, hopefully I can save it then. I'm gonna build a frag rack out of a mag float and egg crate tonight hopefully.

 

Unfortunately, if you saw the tissue lifting off, it's probably lost to RTN. If it was only bleached, the tissue would still be attached.

On the plus side, this looked like Idaho Grape to me as well, which is readily available and a very fast grower.

 

Would glueing the flesh down do anything?

 

Well I retested ammonia, I made an error it was 0 today. Also checked cal, I thought mabye I over did it my last water change with the little additive I add...

 

Lookin pretty bad.

 

As long as there is flesh there is hope. Sorry to hear it is in trouble.
