I saw some a professor having a class in front of the tank on campus here at PSU the other day. his students all had copies of that book. He gave them a paper to fill out that required them to identify all the fish in our aquarium.

I was standing there and overheard what the assignment was so when the students approached the tank I helped them... aka told them all the answers. Couldnt tell you what the inside of the book looks like because none of them had to open it... they all just wrote down the answers i supplied :p

But if the prof here was using that book im sure it is at least pretty decent

I have that book too, it's definitely a good starter book. They explain things very well, but for fishes and other in depth concerns, the internet is still the most viable option. : )

Good choice, btw, one of the best aquarium books out there!

There is such an influx of information and media that has flooded the hobby. Much of the information and topics are very similar in nature with the major differences being associated with those books that are older and outdated.
You can just say so much regarding many aspects of the marine hobby...the thing that differentiates the information is the authors personality and experiences for the most part.
I, personally, enjoy and have learned a great deal from the likes of Calfo, Fenner, Borneman, Sprung, and Delbeek.

Just purchased this book online after looking through it at Books-a-million. It looked very informative and well organized.

I have it, it's pretty good. Still making my way thru it.
I don't imagine much else comes close for the $25 I paid for it...
