the following day the yellow tang had white spots all over it!!!

how they got there in the space of 24hrs?, surly its not from my tank already? the blue tang is fine at mo? stress?

i thort the uv sterilzer would of killed all the ich in 7 days, any suggestions?

the uv only kills free floating parasites, the ones that pass buy the light ... which does help with ich , but it doesn't remove all the ich in the tank. i would recommend doing a fresh water dip on the fish. and feeding them well with selcon soaked food.

with a fresh water dip, you just use tape water or do u treat the water first?
how long you dip the fish, not done it before, doesnt it stress the fish out?

yes it will stress the fish, so if its just a dot here or there i would depend on the selcon and good water quality.

to dip ...you use ro/di water, you bring the temp and the ph up to match you tanks temp and ph. there are some fish that don't do well with this. like firefish ... research your fish type and fresh water dip to be sure its ok with that fish. you dip anywhere from 1 minute to 5 minutes. i always go for 5 ... some say longer, but i have found 5 to work when i had a clownfish that had ich. i dipped her one day waited a day and dipped her again. she recovered and didn't get it back. ( i think I'm just as stressed as the fish when i do this ) i haven't had to do it in over a year. but i don't add new fish to much anymore my tank is pretty full.

here is some reading on it How To Give Fish a Freshwater Dip or Bath do a web search to be sure tangs are ok with it first.

if you see the fish stressing breathing heavy remove it. also i have found floating the fish in a clear container in the tank while your doing the dip seems to calm them a bit. i figure its because they can see their home

a ro/di unit is a water filter, that produces purified water.

when you top off your tank or do a water change what water do you use? do you buy water or treat it? the water you top off with would be what you do the dip in. be sure its clorine free

yes bottled water would be better than tap

what do you top your tank off with? do you buy ro water from the fish store? i would not use tap water unless thats all you have and you use it to top off normally and treat it. if you use tap be sure to dechlorinate it
