I think my wrasse got sucked into the skimmer

a litttle bit ago my skimmer started acting up and sounded really weird, i just thought it was acting up like it always does, a little bit ago i saw my melanurus wrasse swimming by the skimmers intake and i just fed and he's no where to be found, im really worried now

 

Turn the skimmer off, let the water in the intake flow back out and see if he comes out.

 

skimmer's off now, this happend about 30 minutes ago when it started to act up, i just fed and noticed he didnt come to eat, he's always the first, he isint any where on the floor, and didnt come out of the skimmer, im going to check my filter sock but i dont think he's in there

 

Oh no, I hope not!! Turn the skimmer off right away and see what happens.

 

maybe want to put some extra piece of panty hose around that intake. hope the little guys ok.. dam HOB skimmers! argh!

 

I hope he is ok. Do you have the surface skimming attachment for your octo? This help keep critters out of the intake and it skims the surface. Its a win win.

 

he's not in the filter sock he's not inside the skimmer im going to go get my dad to help me lift the skimmer off the tank to see if he's in the inttake pump but im afraid to see what i find

it has a little glass guard type thing over the intake but i have to keep it lower or else a ton of bubbles will pour into the cup if i have it raised out of the water.

this makes me really mad, my flasher wrasse loves to pick at the glass guard and i was always worried about this happening, and now my melanurus does it and he gets sucked up

 

is it the little thing that goes around the intake tube?

 

Yes, with the little slits in it. If you keep the top part above the water line it help keep fish out. Unless they jump in.

Its like a clear square with slits at the top

 

Ugh, I hope he's not in there!!! do it right away - if he is in there somewhere, maybe you can save him. But I hope he's just hiding somewhere!!
