How often do you clean your skimmer?

How often do you clean your skimmer?
Why?

 

Every couple of days usually, I rinse & wipe out the cup and wipe down the tower. I've found I get better skimmate when the tower is clean!

 

Ditto here! Wipe out the tower, I try for every other day...but, I am human :-/ ;D

 

Same here, I get about 1/2 the cup every 3 - 4 days. That's a good time to clean the skimmer when I empty the cup. I don't even have to take it out of the sump. I use a 3/4" nap plastic core paint roller cover. Fits right over the center lift tube and cleans the bubble chamber clean as a whistle! ;D

 

Like Vamp75 said, better skimmate on a clean plenum, not to mention i am still trying to adjust my Valve gate mod on my G3.

 

well...latley ive been bad just cleaning it when it gets full...which is only about 1-2 weeks...but usually i clean every time i does every 3-4 days

Lets get real I unlug it and do a job of it . Water vinegar rinsing, wipping it , looking at the washers. I mostly do that once a month.

 

once or twice a week is all i currently need to clean the skimmer, not much skimmate yet with a powerful skimmer and small biolad. But the filter sock needs to be washed like every 2 to 3 days

 

As far as taking it out and using vinegar and all that deep cleaning...Once a year, maybe. I clean the cup and neck out every few days. Skimmer produces the same all year long. So if it ain't broke, don't fix it
