    My ALK meter is brand new - new battery, new Reagent. What scares me is that I get wildly different results...run it once and get a low ball number...run it again and it is closer to what I would expect. I am far from a chemist - but also not a novice when it comes to testing - took a lot of chemistry (with lots of labs) in my day. So I don't think its user error (I have been wrong before though :) )
