I have about 25-30 pounds of LR and my hair algae is 2.5-3 inches long on the majority of it, as well as on the glass. I am using RO/DI water. I'm also running PhosGuard on the tank, but I didn't see a difference. I run my lights for 8 hours a day. I'll take a picture soon.

Yea pics always help but to help a little unless it's just necessary I would cut back on your lighting period just a bit

My camera's been screwy so I haven't been able to take a pic. The remaining 8 Astraea Snails (Yes, the hermit crabs ate another one ::) ) have been doing an okay job, but not what I was looking for. If I try the 3 days without light, will my corals be affected?

I've never had a problem with my snails and hermits.... Circle of life haha

    What corals??

I'm not sure I would blackout for days on end but I would just cut back. It takes time to get algae under control. I keep hearing about clear fx, it helps remove phosphates so I would think about adding that to help keep it under control

My corals are in my signature. How many hours should I cut back to? I'm running them at 8 hours.

Yea somewhere around 6 should be ok. But given time your algae will be taken care of.

there are many ways to get rid of GHA, although a sea hare would be one i steer clear of because they eat algae and once the algae is gone he will most likely die and when he does he releases a toxin that can spoil your rank.
