Getting some work done!!!

We coulda used that system back when we had 14 tanks running...all those separate QT/growout tanks were a real PITA.

The slanted tanks on the top row are 25 gals each, and the rectangles on the bottom are 15 gals each. I'm playing with the idea of adding removable partitions, but there is a lot more to do.

I'm figuring roughly 25' of head loss, so now I'm shopping for return pumps...

 

Depending on your sump/ reservoir your looking at just 160g in the tanks and then depending on the sump another 100g or so. Am I in the ball park?
I assume (but you know why assume means) your goin with an inline pump.
I know the pan work 250ps is 1900gph and at 25' your still at ~1320gph. From the research I just did. That will still give you 8.25x turnover.
I have also heard good things about these pumps
If I am way off or this just isn't what your looking for let me know.

Wow I messed that up. That is just 8.25x turnover for just the tanks. That doesn't include your sump. Back to the drawing board. Sorry I messed that one up.

 

I'm running one of the larger Pan Worlds (200PS) on the 210, and to be honest, it works fine, but is a bit louder than I prefer, altho it's out in the "sump shed" so it's really not a problem.

We're not looking to have crazy flow in the "cubicles", just enuff to keep things running as they should, and the fish healthy.

The sump will be that big black tub you see under the tanks. It's already got a bulkhead installed in it that's plugged ATM.

I've never done a system like this (multiple tanks, same system), so I'm learning some stuff along the way (besides that I dislike working in rigid PVC...LOL).

 

Well there's the dolphin if you want crazy flow, don't know how quiet it is.
There's the iwakis with the Japanese motors that can handle that much head. That's all that I can come up with.
How can anyone not like working with rigid PVC, I find it soooo much fun. And the glue. Isn't it great how it gets everywhere. At least I am not allowed to do any plumbing in the house anymore.

 

I used to hate rigid PVC too, but the more you work with it the better it gets. Only thing I dislike about single systems is that if one fish has a disease they could all get it, but I'm sure you can catch it and will have a hospital system set up.

 

Dood...I'm a "black flexible vinyl hose/threaded fitting" kinda guy.

We have an Iwaki MD40RLXT running the CL return on our 100 gal, and I do like it a lot...whisper quiet, and it runs very cool thanks to the internal fan. We're also running Little Giant and ReeFlo pumps on some of our systems.

What you saw in the photo is the "available livestock" system, for lack of a better phrase...each fish will be prophylactically treated and QT'd in a completely different system prior to reaching this set of tanks.

Yea, I'm with Alex when it comes to PVC.

The Japanese iwakis are good when it comes to quietness and head pressure.

I too run a lg 4-mdqx-sc on my 125 and I'm sure it's not the quietest but honestly it's not that bad and I can't beat the performance it's produced so far.

 

I was VERY happy with an older LG 3-MDQX, so when I was looking for a new pump for the 100 gal main return, I picked one up. However, once you hit "size 4", I think the noise level increases quite a bit, which unfortunately, happens a lot once you cross a certain "size line".
