    Hi guys,

I picked up a Frogspawn at the LFS a week ago but have yet to see it extend sweeper tentacles. Is this typical?

I tried feeding it yesterday by turning off the pumps and shooting some Marine cuisine directly at it. All the tentacles closed up around the food. BUT... as the lights went off the coral started to retract a bit, revealing a balled up clump of food that it was just holding. It never ate it I guess?

    Is this normal? Thanks!

You do not need to feed a frogspawn.

The tentacles closing around the food is the actual coral eating the food. They don't have additional sweepers to feed. It's subjective as far as feeding euphyllia as they can survive with only photosynthesis but in my experience I've gotten better growth with feedings. Now I just let it grab the food I feed my fish.

It has no sweeper tenticles. What you observed is normal eating pattern

Feeding frodspawn isn't necessary but apparently(others observations) if fed, it will grow more rapidly
I feed mine once in a while
