    I know nothing about electricity. Would putting a 3-pin to 2-pin adaptor on the plug for my return pump be a bad idea or a very, very bad idea? This would be a useful item for shutting off the return pump (in the garage) for feeding. Alas, all my stuff is 3-pin

    I believe the only way you would be safe is if you have grounded metal electrical boxes.It would then be possible to use the switchplate screw as the ground.With the flexiplug installed before the adapter you would have to run a wire from the adapter to that screw.Not a good idea imo. I know those adapters do not meet code.
