Fish skin peeling? Help please

Ok so this is a new one for me. I have put in my tank a large achillies show fish and a crosshatch trigger. I had a small ich outbreak nothing to stress about. the ich went away days ago and then it looked like there was a white haze on a few of the fish. Then I noticed that the achillies started to lose its color a bit? Not this am the fish was very discollered and its skin was actually peeling off all over the fish? I dont think its going to make it but my hippo and crosshatch is looking like the start of it now? I have qt the achillies but its starting to swim sideways and is rapid breathing and almost white in color. Can anyone please help.

 

Anyone have any thoughts? I just lost a show achillies and am bummed...... anyone have anything even if its a strech.

 

More then likely, its a bacterial infection. Normally they are common after Ich infestations, because when the parasite drops off, it leaves open wounds. which then can get infected by bacteria. I lost a few fish back in august to that way.

 

K+ were you treating your Achilles with something?
what i did last time i had an ich infestation , i treated with copper. The package said it would help prevent secondary infections ( that are really the killers) it worked with some fish. i saved 2 of my fish that way but lost 3.. better than nothing i guess.

 

Oh and Sorry bout the loss bud, Id be bummed if I lost my Achilles. To heal them up I use Melafix or Pimafix. There are also other bacterial infection meds, but they require QT, and Achilles Tangs have a thin mucus coating so they are harder to keep cause they get sick quicker cause of this, and they also have a hard time with some Meds such as copper cause they are sensitive to that.

 

I only wish I knew this earlier! it was in tough shape but I treated it in the qt with copper and went downhill fast from there. I think it looked like some type of infection. The fish was bleeding in the qt tank. I did not realize how sensitive these fish were. The hippo had some and is responding and the crosshatchs are responding well also. I kept thinking marine velvet but did not know that that could be it as nothing has ever had it in the tank. Its discouraging to lose a fish but only to lose yet another very expensive fish stinks... Sorry to hear. I wish was on earlier to help. This third shift is really a kicker in the pants. and even so, I can tell my fish get stressed when I work third shift. So Im glad Im not alone. I personally would give an Achilles another shot but down the road till you get everything stable again. But that is just me! Good luck with the rest of your fish!
