m2434 i didn't know a ballast near the tank would do that. i used to keep my ballast in my cabinet next to the sump :( i do have a ground probe though. and the new lights ballast isn't in the cabinet, and after hearing what you said will never go into the cabinet.

scottmwoods why i say uv is when fish are stressed as they are going into a new environment the can get sick very easy, and bacterial infections is something thats often not seen.
also I'm also guessing your tang could be harassing the new arrivals. which adds to their stress. and the better your water quality the more chance the fish have to adapt.

Are you getting the fish from the same source?

How long after you buy them do they die?

    What are you feeding?

Cycles are a funny thing. My advice is to get the population down to one small fish then keep it happy for two months. If all goes well, add a second and keep them both happy for anoth month. If there is still no trouble, add the rest of your fish slowly from there.

Yeah what Servillius said ;D, Its sounding like your just overwhelming your new ecosystem. And IMO you should use a higher quality test kit for your nitrates, ph and ammonia. It takes months to TRUELY cycle and have a tank that will support that kind of livestock...just be patient, slow down, and don't give up;)

Ok, I need more information on Pathogens. I found this and about to buy it. Please let me know if you think this will help.
I do have allot of green/brown algae in the tank. The yellow tang eats it.

Yes I have been getting them from Petco. I have not been getting them at the same time but I do know that they have been comming in on different shipments and different places into petco.

How long after you buy them do they die?
The Yellow tang that is still alive has been in the tank the longest. I got him on DEC 27th. the clowns and the lawnmower blenny lasted about a week. The Cardinals one did not last 24 hours but the other lasted 2 days.

    What are you feeding?
I have been feeding them allot trying to find something they will eat and like. None of them seem to like the frozen food so I have not put that in the tank for about 3 days. The tang and the shrimp go after the flakes. The clowns would take after the flakes to before they died. The crabs and the starfish would eat the frozen foods.

have never had that one. (the green killing machine) i can tell you a uv does not reduce water changes as they state as part of the sales pitch. i put a link to a marine depot write up on uv's on my page. uv will help with water clarity for sure. but your phosphate's might be high and causing the green and brown algae
