Has anyone heard from Ryan recently or know how his tank is doing?

I was following this, kept out of it cause there was enough cooks stirring
the pot and I mean that in the nicest way possible guy's.

I forgot about it but was reminded by Daniel072 in another post.

    Whats going on Ryan?

    Hey Gang--

I'm still here... I've posted several other threads since this one including: Are my rocks rockin? to fan or not to fan?

4 fish miraculously survived the rocky road... both clown fish are doing great... the yellow tang and goby are also doing great. I've since been battling a nitrate problem... it's between 60 and 80ppm down from 120ppm...

My salinity is 1.023, temp 81, nitrites 0, ammonia 0 and ph 8.2
I've posted pics of my rocks and setup ... just click on my avatar and then other posts to check them out...

I've since stopped talking to the LFS in question... bought az-no3 to help with nitrates... and found a new store that won't sell me anything until the tank is more stabilized... guess that makes them a true protector of fish!

The old LFS in question... get this... brought over a cleaner wrasse to clean off what I thought was ich on the fish... turned out not to be and the wrasse died ...
I can't believe he actually added to my bioload.... EDUCATION ON MY PART HAS BEEN A LIFE SAVER! Let that be a lesson for any newb... there is no such thing as "cycled" water and rock... I learned this the hard way!

Anyway... there's the update... hope all is well!!!
BTW my tank turns one month old this week!!!

I'm glad your tank is improving. Most of all I'm glad that you seem to have found a more reputable fish store to consult with.:)

    1 Year Anniversary!!

I am writing this updated post to first thank everyone who took the time to read this orginal thread and who offered wonderful help and support.

Today my 72 gallon bowfront FOWLR turned one year old! What a year... if you've followed my posts... you know what I mean.

12 months later... my tank practically runs itself. Fish are thriving... coralline algae is everywhere... and I'm finally taking the first step to adding corals (my zoos and things come Tuesday)

Although I have lost many fish along the way (chalk it up to hard lessons learned) I am wiser and more patient (two important qualities in the life of a saltwater hobbyist) Two nemo clowns managed to stick with me through it all... and are the best of friends...

With them are a yellow tang, blue hippo, neon damsel, green chromis, flame angel, six-line wrasse, cleaner shrimp and inverts...

My point in writing... for anyone just getting started... BABY steps. It's about quality... not quantity... it's about creating a home for your piece of the ocean... Be patient, don't overfeed, don't listen to your LFS without doing research... and don't buy impulsively.

Learn from my mistakes... and you're already 1 step ahead in the hobby!

    Much luck and love,
    Ryan
