So today I went to my favorite lfs and he happen to have a piece of green digitata. it was off of his personal coral and asked if I wanted it for cheap ($10!). this will be the only sps I'll get in this tank and I wanted to get some opinions and tips how to care for it. my tank is mainly lps dominant and it'll have its very own spot at the very top in the middle.

That is not digi, it's hirsuta, elkhorn monti. Likes medium to high light and the higher the flow the better.

Very easy to grow IMO, probably one of the easiest SPS, just hard to find sometimes. It encrusts as well as branches, and it's sting is pretty potent for an SPS and more specifically a monti.

    Cool thanks for the info

it's been in the tank a few days now and seems pretty happy. all of its polyps are extending nicely and no dying off so far. I may actually be able to keep sps after all lol

It's an addiction I tell you what...

Try something like green slimer or tri color if you want to get into the acros.

I've thought about making the transition to sps only but, I'm still a lil uneasy about dosing. my params do fine with a weekly water change and I'm able to keep them up enough for my lps.

As with all things start slow. Start with a couple hardy aquacultured frags. Stay away from colonies until you get the hang of it. Odds are if you can keep LPS then a few SPS frags won't change much.
