I have several SPS' coming tomorrow. I dont live anywhere near a LFS that carries any dips. 2+hour drive. I have some Seachem Reef Dip stuff that I have mixed feelings about. I dont know if its outdated or not but its been around my house for a long time. Ive read some of the DIY recipes for coral dips. Such as here DIY SPS Iodine (Iodide) Dip (nudi's, ect.) - Reef-Geeks
Is there anything people recommend over others? Thanks

I have used that one and it is quite effective. You will want to do an inspection after the dip and after the rinse before putting the coral in the tank.

Inspection? As in looking for red bugs etc?

Yes and nudis and whatever looks like it shouldn't be there.

Ive only every dipped my corals once. Okay to dip repeatedly? I dont care to mess with my animals much. Causes too much stress

I have no experience with this, but I do know some have been dabbling using Bayer insecticide for acro dips over the last year or so. There's some threads around on the other big forums about it.

At least that'd be something you could pick up at your local home improvement store.

Thank you. I will have to do some research. As far as the DIY dip...mostly it is a disinfectant and parasite remover? Is it also a mild antiseptic?

It was something experimental to deal with AEFW.

Think of it as a Coral RX on steroids... YMMV

The real purpose of a dip is to kill anything that may be hitch-hiking on the coral. An antiseptic shouldn't be a necessity if the coral was treated correctly; not always the case however.
