Ok well that clam does not look so hot. :-[

    How small is the clam?

Does the mantle every fully expand over the edges of the shell?

Sorry Cheryl, its a saying from something with more added to the end!

    That being said.

If ya move the clam up, do what corralline says, make sure its really secure. All mine are in the sandbed because they kept jumping off the rocks. They were gonna get hurt, so I just left them there.

It is usually a good idea to put a small rock under the clam on the SB first let it attach then move it up,however you should have plenty of light and I would just leave it on the SB.Look for snails around the base of the clams shell.;)

yeah, that doesn't look good. Mine did that about 4 months after I got it, it started to retract and fade fast. I took it out and did a 30 minute fresh water dip on it 2 days. I did find 1 pyramid snail. Took it off. Mine looked more like pinched mantle disease though.

Weird thing is, I've yet to see 1 more pyramid snail on any of my clams. But the maxima recovered within a week and is looking great again.

I'd wait for corral line's suggestions before starting any treatment though, she's got a lot more experience than me;)

No unfortunately the clam does not.

Does it ever extend the mantle completely?

It looks withdrawn and gaping, not good signs.

A healthy clam will close and withdraw the mantle when shaded, if this one does not it's days are probably numbered.

Even if it's Pinched Mantle Disease, the clam looks too far gone for tx.
