Unless you can get a vet to do a necropsy I doubt you'll garner anything definitive from the area. It could simply be the process of dying, and anoxia nothing more. You really need some type of pathology guidance and insight unless you can contribute what you see now to any signs and symptoms the fish showed prior to death. Marine Ich (Cryptocaryon irrtans) destroys tissue found within the gills, probably the most common cause of death secondary to Brooklynella.

I would install a heater a 5 degree temp swing is not good ime. This may or may not be the cause of course Cheryl nailed it.

I agree with both above. While i also doubt the 5 degree swing killed the fish, it may have added to stressing the fish and is probably stressing your coral.

You need to know why it is swinging so much, if your lights heat the water to 80 then maybe a fan over the top of the water to keep that down, or if your temp is set above 75 and it drops to 75 then you need to look at possibly a new heater. How are you measuring temperature? what is do you set your temperature to?

Then you should set the heater for 78-79 to avoid the swing. The bodies of water that the fish are native to do not have a swing of 5 degrees over the course of 24 hours/
