Should be fine. Have you dialed back your lights to let it acclimate? If the light is more intense than it is used to could be a reason it hasn't opened up yet.

It looks healthy so I wouldn't worry about it. It will open up when it is ready and you can get it fed.

my light is an AI Prime with the setting to 16K. I turned the bright white up to take the picture and it did not like that very much.. Lesson learned. its a little closed up right now. How would you acclimate with lighting, Im not sure as a noob.... I am learning though with all of your help! Thanks!

Similar to how you do with water acclimation. I like to know what type of lighting it was under where i bought it from, this gives you a good understanding of where to start. I usually would put a new frag in the shade on the bottom and then a few days later move it out a little and then start to move it up a couple inches until it is where you want to keep it. If you don't have much in your tank you could just turn down the lighting on the LEDs to about 1/2 what you are normally run and then ramp it back up over a few weeks. When the corals start to look really pleased with the lighting is where you should keep it.

Thanks. The AI Prime has a coral acclimation setting i think i will check that out to see what it does. I did have the candy cane on the bottom of the tank or about two days, but i don't have that much shade in the tank. I have since moved it to where i want it, seem to be doing okay!

I've had my yellow Candy Cane for about 2 weeks now and I still haven't seen them extend their tentacles at all. I have no idea why. I turned off the pumps to feed them and they did eat the food but I had to make sure that the food pieces fell directly into the mouth since no tentacles. The Candy Cane is only about the side of a pencil eraser head. Maybe that's why?

I have two different frags and it took both of them some time to acclimate to the tank and open up. But eventually they did and I'd find their feeder tentacles out about an hour after lights out. I don't often feed that late at night so if they feed heterotrophically it's from particles suspended in the water column.
