As some of you know i got a candy cane coral the other day. First piece of LPS i have bought. Long story short the sweeper tentacles came out the next morning at around 7am. I have not seen them since and i wanted to get some food to it. Does anyone know if there is anyway to get the candy cane to extend the tentacles so i can feed it...

    Thanks!

Mine usually open at night if they open. Some sponge power or amino acids usually will get them to open up for me, along with some food in the water.

I have read that candy canes are heavy eaters. That it helps to target feed them?

I never target feed and mine have exploded. Probably the best growing thing in my tank other than cyano.

How long did it take to start growing. Mine has two polyps right now.

I would say if you have a small frag to go ahead and feed it to really make it grow. But as others have said, once they're big you don't have to feed.

To get a feeding response during the day, turn your flow off and baste some very fine or even liquid coral food over it, then give it mysis or coral pellets or something meaty.

    What VA Reef said.

It didn't take long. I would say 2-3 polyps a month added so you should notice new heads within a month's time.

as of this morning still no tentacles to feed the candy cane. I am going to try tonight after the lights go off. most likely 2 hours after just give it some mysis to see if the tentacles come out.
    Thanks for the help !!
