Uhhh I don't think that's how it works....I Thought most of the bacteria were on/in the sand bed, not in the water. And also for filtration, you would need the same filter. Bottom line, unless you take the original tank home, you need a cycle. Wait did you cycle? Your posts are a bit confusing. What are your params and stocking?

I am not sure if English is your first language, but I'm having difficulty understanding you. From what I have read, here is what I am understanding.

You say your tank is cycled? How exactly did you cycle it? Just taking water from another tank will not magically give you a newly (or, already) cycled reef tank. Even if you add some of the sand from an established tank (and preferably a form of actual filter pad which has been taken from the 'mature' tank), to your new one, you will still experience a mini-cycle. Time should be allowed within this new tank before adding any inhabitants, aka livestock, to it. This is especially the case with invertebrates such as clams, which can be sensitive to parameter swings.

You want a clam in your 20 gallon aquarium. Your Aqua Illumination fixture should be fine as long as you place the clam in the middle area of the tank (unless its a cube tank?). You water parameters appear to be at proper levels, but you will need to dose in order to keep those parameters stable.

What kind of clam do you want to get? Trinidacan maxima and crocsea (sp?) are rock-boaring clams. They like relatively high amounts of light and should be placed within the aquascape, or on a piece of rock/shell for them to attach their foot to. Squamosa and derasa clams prefer to be on the sandbed, with derasas growing quite large, quickly. This means even more dosing than you would otherwise be doing in order to keep up with your parameters.

I've asked for his params and he won't tell me...I don't think he's cycled.

I think 1050 would more than likely actually be his magnesium level (which is low if that's the case).

    Parameters can be seen above.
