breeding mollies in saltwater

    i have 8 mollies 2 males and 6 females. can i keep all of them in a 29 gal tank with 30lbs of live sand and 30lbs of lr.

    Personally, I would recommend against it.

    1) The exact species would determine if your system could even handle that many, as some varieties grow more than twice the size of others, up to 6.5 inches, and come with a recommended minimum tank size of 30g per mated pair.

    2) Even with the smaller species you may experience fighting between the males, and possibly the females as well, as they become more active, sexually and otherwise, in saltwater.

    Id say you'll bee ok.... I started off with 1 male and 2 females to cycle my tank after the cycle I set them up in an xtra tall 20 gallon and well they have overpopulated and are to many to really count.they will be finding a new home in my 90 gallon display fuge

    I cycled my tank with mollies they all survived they have even had babies and are still in the tank. Two have died as of lately but the cuc don't let bodies last long.
