Seems I have to learn the lesson of test accuracy every now and then. Glad I didn't try to correct anything till I was sure.

I think you have the alk test kits covered now. Use up the old Salifert and Red Sea and hannah when questions arise.
Glad to see you have it straightened out.

You can still get bogus readings on the hannah but a double check will put you at ease

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I check Alk at least every three days, I can pretty much track where my numbers are going and where they should be at. The only reason I mention this is that if you check routinely at least once a week you'll pick up a trend and also know when a value is falling outside the expected range. I got a value of 260 last week. I knew that was incorrect, it was user error. On Hanna Alk the glass has to be clean, no air bubbles and meniscus to the water line.

Thanks for the tips. What's funny about this is that before the elevated reading, I was dosing 3ml of 2 part per day and values were steady at 10. Now with no dosing it's at 10 and steady. Seems like requirements can change rapidly.

yep I would say keep both your readings and have a or two LFS test it for you take their readings and do an average of all four reading+reading+reading+reading, divided by 4 = your average :)

I see what you are saying. I'm ok with having a ballpark value knowing that the precision of the tests are not that great. Mostly looking for consistency and an approximate value. +/- .5 is fine as long as it's not fluctuating much.
