You could always create yourself a raceway if you have loads of aiptasia. Not sure how effective they are but the theory sounds great, a good natural filter for your system.

I guess even a couple of peppermints would do the job. It may take a bit longer though, IMO.

I had alot of juvenile aiptasias popping up everywhere so I decided to go with the "Shock and Awe" approach. ;)

If 4 of these guys did a phenomenal job on my 20 then logically I would probably go with 8 for the 55.

I decided to skip the injection part of this excercise and allow the shrimp to have a go at it first. So far .... so good! (fingers crossed) :)

By the way, these guys (peppermints) are in great demand. My LFS had received an order of about 40 peppermints on a Saturday and by Monday there was nothing left.

Ive been seeing the same thing jason....i just sitr it up really good.
For those not seeing results with joes juice i would say its an aplication error. I personally despise peppermint shrimp for thier pallet towards corrilamorphs.

Hey just a happy update for everyone:
I ordered some Joe's Juice and had the old man apply it, since I was away at college. So far so good; they ate it right up and they haven't been back since. I'm not ready to count them among the dead yet, but this is the longest they've ever been gone.
I also bought a couple of peppermint shrimp to deal with the little ones. I couldn't tell if they had any effect or not because they were ony there for a week or two prior to the Joe's Juice application (I've been fighting these fill-in -the-blanks for several months and didn't want to lose my precious few coral). The aiptasia were pretty big, too, like, bigger than I thought they could get.
Thanks to everyone for the advice!

When I started my first tank a few years ago I was so excited to discover new life on my live rock. When I saw the little brown anemone thing I actually started feeding them small pieces of shrimp and scallops when I would feed my anemone;D after a few week of that my tank was over run with aptasia:mad: talk about a noob mistake.

I overcame the infestation with kalk mixture applied to the larger aptasia via syringe from the doctors office and 4 pep shrimp, that was in my old 55gal.

Glad to hear your are winning the battle.

i use kalkwasser paste applied with a large plastic syringe.if it shrinks thats fine,i just cover the whole area with a layer of paste and leave it there forever.i found this also works for hydroids but they have to be completely covered.peppermint shrimp only eat the tiny ones.also if you let the problem go long enough without treatment then they will spread through your water lines and filters as well.that means possibly having to replace pipes.
