Wait I thought figure 8s were brackish? Also take care when you siphon to clean the gravel...I've heard of them being sucked up that way too.

Wiki says in the wild they are found in fresh water but in captivity you can extend their life to upwards of 15 years if kept in brackish. So in other words yes and no I guess.

most brackish fish naturally live at river openings to oceans, so they are very hardy as they are used to highly fluctuating water. meaning they can either acclimate to entire saltwater at any time, or full freshwater.

I have enough reptiles. I have about 10 tanks ranging from 10 to 30 gallons because IFC my reptile addiction. That's just the emtys. I have a dragon room with wall to wall 70 gallon tanks.

I think I will stick with the puffers. As much as I love the zoa garden idea I already have one tank that is stressIng the bank accound on trying to stock it. I think I might go into foreclosure if I had anOther to stock. I have everything I need but gravel and plants for a fw.

I have a green spotted and a fig. 8 in a 20g. The gsp owns the tank... The figure 8 guy never gets a chance to eat and is always bullied. If you plan to keep more than 1 fish, especially something other than another puffed be prepared to lose a few.. I would expect the pleco to be food for the puffer unless its much bigger than it.

just do a puffer only tank, concentrating on a few select puffer species.
