I purchased mine from Reef Cleaners and was pretty satisfied, John is also awesome to deal with.

Bulk Reef Supply and Marco Rocks are also popular choices.

Thanks Iertiatic, that helps a ton!

Would you suggest Live rock or dry base rock?

base rock with cut out any unwanted pests... live rock will cycle faster... base rock is also alot cheaper... what did you use to make your false back for the tank?

If you dont mind a longer cycle, go base, or you could go base and seed it with some live. I just received my order from BRS an it was sweet!! Got the reef safe EcoRox. Very well packaged and ordered 30lbs so they sent me 35lb for some breakage. there is a sign-up for BRS group buy you can join as well

I'm wanting to go base rock then seed with a chunk of rock out of my 90 gallon. I was also thinking about ordering some copepods or amphipods to help the process as well as give my tank more biodiversity.

    Sorry about the late response!

I would recommend dry base rock. It will start out pest free and you wont get any surprises in your tank down the road. I started out with mainly base rock and seeded my tank with a piece of live rock.

If I had to do it again, I would have started my cycle with a raw shrimp and skipped the live rock. I got lucky and that one piece of LR didn't have any unwanted pests.

Edit: Just realized you can seed your tank with a piece of LR from your 90. Since you know it's pest free (hopefully), you can definitely seed it with that. Since it is cured from being in your tank, the die off will start your cycle and you wont have to worry about adding an ammonia source.

Thanks Interiatic, That is actually my main plan. use dry base rock, a piece of rock from my 90 and water from the 90 as well. I also built a little Jawfish condo out of some spare pie I've had laying around.

No problem, glad I could be of some help.

And about adding some water from your old tank, I wouldn't worry about it. All of the beneficial bacteria will hitchhike on the LR.
