Yeah I'm looking for a positive id on it though. If its a type of bryopsis thats untreatable then I don't want to waste time and money on elevated mag treatments. Also I've heard there are some strains that Ultra Algae X can't even kill.

Couple more shots to help people ID it.

Turned the powerheads off to get some less blurry pics but I'm not sure if I achieved that. Damn you SLR manual focus.

I hope someone like John Maloney would come on and say - "No this one is not Bryopsis, its another algae that will run its course and dissapear its just a fancy looking diatom thats all " (wishful thinking)

but even when he does not and it is Bryopsis, its not uncurable

elevated mag levels amongst other things as suggested in the other thread I posted for you worked for Kiarah, you need to see her before and after shots - its amazing

your not ( expletive deleted) , your just have a challenge

when you beat it, post details

    Steve

Ordered 2 reactors one for rowaphos one for carbon and a half gallon of Kent Tech M magnesium. Hopefully will solve the problem. If not then I guess it will not be a problem if it comes down to nuking the tank.

+1 sossoudt..didn't have to read further in thread, that is exactly what I would do. (Lights off and all that). If you can get me closer I can give you more definitive id. (like species of byropsis), but I am pretty sure that is the genus to look in. I hear B. hallae is pretty easy to deal with and dies quickly with mag dosing, but lights out is what I would do first.

Time frame on the lights out? Black garbage bags over the tank work?

more reading here...I liked the first sostoudt post. Dark cycle. If nuking is an option you wouldn't be too beat up over, nuke away, Nice to catch it early, sucks it happened on expensive LR.
