Some of you probably saw the announcement for a party here with members of Reef Aus and Fishy Frolics.

JohnO introduced me to Emil at Reef Aus and was a big help in getting the idea going.

Well it is with profound sadness that I share what I just found out. JohnO's wife died today in a scuba accident.

I have only know John a short time, but I already consider him to be a great friend. Stay strong JohnO.  And know that you have friends who care about you and will try to help you through this.

I think in the last two weeks, people around here were just starting to see his wit and vast knowlege of reefing. The guy cracks me up. His jokes are the best.

But there is nothing to joke about here. Tragic events like this make remind us all how fragile and sacred life is.

Guests, members, everyone - please take a moment and share some words of strength and condolences for JohnO and both families.

    Matt

Dear heavenly Father God, we beseech You at this time of great need to console the heart of John O and to open the gates of your kingdom to the soul of his beloved wife. John,

I don't know you, but I can empathize with you, having lost someone dear to me at one time in my life. I'm not going to lie to you and tell you it gets easier as time goes on. What happens is that you just get better at dealing with it -- the pain is still there.

I wish I was with you now, so I could sit with you for 10 minutes and talk. I have been a grief counselor for many years, and if you would like to talk to me via e-mail or otherwise, my e-mail address is [email protected] .

You aren't in this alone, John. Write me, and we'll talk.

    Steve

    Hi,

Well it's been a week since Susan passed. The funeral was last Thursday and was a real turning point in my life and that of my daughter Sharne.

I love you all dearly for your words, and your messages of support, they are greatly appreciated by both my daughter and myself.

There is one of those cheesy old sayings that goes...
"Take time to smell the flowers"
Can't remember where it comes from but it is a truism I encourage you with all my being to adopt. It wont stop bad things from happening in your life, but at this moment it is a truism that I am living by.

Last thing, this is the verse that was read at Susans funeral. Please read it and share it if you want as it is a beautiful verse and probably conveys her thought better than I ever could

Do not stand at my grave and weep,

I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow

I am the diamond glints on snow.

I am the sunlit ripened grain,

I am the gentle autumns rain

When you awake in the morning hush

I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight

I am the stars that shine at night

Do not stand at my grave and cry

    I am not there.

    Does put things in perspective,,,
Very true, sometimes we tend to forget the true meaning of passing into the Lords Hands...
    Not gone, Not forgotten...
