So I've been trying to breed clownfish and in one of my rotifer buckets I had a bloom of these things that don't really look like any rotifers I have ever seen photos of. My best guess from google photos are that I have a bucket full of paramecium. Do these look like paramecium (or maybe flat worms?..I hope not...) to anyone else?

Could they be some kind of rotifer that I just don't recognize?

    Thanks for the help!

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
They look like an Ameba or type of flatworm. I would ask member Pickle, either pm him or ask on his breeding clownfish thread.

Yikes - definitely not rots - and I agree, looks like a flat worm.

I'm curious how that might happen though.

Well, looks like I will clorox bomb that bucket and start over with a fresh batch of rotifers from ebay. Thanks for the help identifying.

Who knows how they got there. I would guess either from re-used water from my fish tank and then, or from a powdered algae product I tried for food when I ran out of nano.

As much as they say you can re-use your tank water - I never do it. I'm always afraid of what might get in the with the rots and honestly rot water degrades fast enough when it's fresh. I use sieves to try and not get any of my rot water into the fry tanks - I just figure if I use fresh water it gives them the bast odds starting out.
