In the first picture below is an Acro of some sort...I think. Can anybody give me some more specifics on it? Especially its care? If you look at some of its tips it has lost some tissue. I moved it to higher lighting yesterday and bam....loss of tissue on tips. I moved it back down to where it has been for several months. I need some ideas on how to care for it. It is a rather touchy animal.

This second picture has two different encrusting Montis. The big colony on the left obviously, but on the right there is a smaller one. I didnt buy that guy he just showed up. Very colorful. Any ideas on what he is? Also, is it normal for encrusting Montis to NOT extend their polyps at all times? Some days they are out....others like today they are not. PS>I think my Majestic is picking at them for some reason. This is new. I caught him today at it. Thanks all.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Boy unusual pieces. The acropora is a deep water acropora I believe. I can not remember the name right now other than I believe it starts with L. I would be hesitant to move it up. Member evolved or Dingo would probably know.

    Check out this link.

    Deep Water Acropora, part 1

If the angel is picking on the second at all it will tend to remain closed.

    Cool pieces.

The top is some type of acro but that's all I can tell you on that. It'll like high light and good random flow.

The Monti is either a spongiode or confusa. The two look alike but have different growth patterns IME.
Mine like medium to high light with a strong random flow.

So if the acro is a deepwater then likely it should remain low in the tank correct? This animal is the most touchy coral in my tank. If anything and I mean anything is slightly out of wack it lets me know right away. It will turn brown instead of a tan to almost green shade. The color you see in the picture is because it was not happy about the new amount of lighting high in the tank. I think?

Will it cause long term issues for the montis if they keep their polyps closed? Thanks Not sure why my Majestic is picking at them.

Thanks for the help. I will keep searching on that Acro. Different looking coral thats for sure. Wish it would be tan/green all time. Its like my personal security system. If the acro is brown break out the test kits! If anybody else has suggestions please share!

    UPDATE

I have done some research on my Acro that is giving me issues. It appears it is a Speciosa. Unless I am mistaken this is a deepwater coral and should be placed near the bottom of your aquarium? I cannot find any information on how to place the coral. Should it be standing up like it is pictured? Or horizontaly? I would love to get some input from Anybody who has any knowledge of this very touchy animal. Thanks!

The big monti looks more like a Cyphastrea than a monti.
