Alright so as the title says I'm have been looking at controllers lately for my new 12 gallon set up. I love the price and abilities of the reef angel controller. But the entire programming thing scares the hell out of me lol. I have no idea how to do any of that stuff. I have been spending some time on the RA form to see if it would help me to understand somethings but reading thru the threads I have no idea what they are talking about. Now I'm even more confused then when I started.

What I want the reef angel to do:
    -ATO
    -Control AI SOL
    -Regulate my PH
    -Regulate my Temp
-Control jebao or vortech pump ( have both haven't decide which one to use on this tank)
    -Wireless control

    Who has a RA?
How hard is it to use?
    Will it work for me?

    I have a Reef Angel.
If you are scared of programming then I would not recommend it for you.
There is a fairly steep learning curve and initial setup takes time. The program it comes with was not for me and I struggled until I found another setup that came packaged with the ardruino software.
Once over this hurdle the doors are open, you can do just about anything you can think of, but it really helps to have a programming background.

Yea thanks Matt that's kind of what I was scared of

Do you know what the basic system will control without any programming. I think the call it the wizard?

Yeah the wizard will control two powerheads in a wavemaker fashion and control your heater, lighting and one other thing if I remember. I didn't want the wavemaker setup so I went with the other program. If you have the time and patience, it is fantastic. If you don't, then I'd go Apex for plug and play.

I just used it: it is called the 'Reef Angel Wizard.' And I have to say, it makes setting up the basics on your setup real easy. I forgot a lot about this. I had to come back to this post to share.

    Here is a screenshot:

Once done with the wizard, it gives you the option to upload to your Reef Angel 'head' where it reboots with your new setup. The Reef Angel Wizard is key to getting going with the Reef Angel.

I got my Reef Angel WiFi module updated with my new router info tonight using the WiFi Utility program. Now I have to re-calibrate my probes and get the charting working again. I'll figure it out. If you like to play around, this is fun.
