So I got a Engineer Goby and A Six-line Wrasse for my tank, and when I put them in there my blue fin Damsle decided to come after them both but did not attack them. After watching I noticed that he was in a little cave and would go after anything near it. He then started going after a bar Goby that he had been peacefull to for two tanks and it had been the Damsle and the Bar Goby alone for two months until I got these fish. The strange thing is that he has never acted like this before and I have had him for three different tanks straight over a number of years.

    +1 to ^^^

FTR, most reef fish are territorial; some do protect their area more aggressively than others. As long as he's not attacking/bullying, I wouldn't worry. He'll most likely calm down once he's sure everyone knows his main spot.

I'm glad you gave me a good answer to calm my nerves. I like how you did not ask me irrelevant questions like some users on here and gave a strait up answer.

We ask questions to find you definitive answers. Some of us have had your issues before and the questions while irrelevant to you will help an experienced reefer to help your needs. That engineering goby is going to get pretty big so expect possible issues in the future

is there an update on this? unfortunately damsels can be very aggresive and in smaller system where fish dont really have a chance to flee this can lead to stress and death.

I haven't seen the op post in a while. Sometimes people take things wrong when we're only trying to help. I agree 100% swiss

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I would not give it a second thought. This individual was mistaken and thought postings political in nature was done on a reef forum, yeah nope.

Any who, how a 1 yr old damsel acts compared to it's 2 year old self can be as different as night and day. A sexually and physically mature fish will sometimes be a very aggressive adult.
