No, actually in my opinion they are for nothing except exacerbating a problem. This type of maneuver causes more stress – stress creates a susceptible fish to further infection. Again, this is my opinion, one I will always stand by – accept I could be wrong, and this is your tank and suggest you take whatever steps you feel are warranted. I wish you luck

 

freshwater dips are essential for new introductions and dont stress the fish any more than just acclimation. they also rid the fish of al unwanted bacteria and/or parasites

 

the uv was a good move. you wont be sorry you added it. i have one and wont go without it. it will help clear the water of free floating ick and bacterias that often effect fish and weaken their immune systems.

I offer opinions here, not facts – you seem to speak in facts, I urge you to be careful as people rely on our statements on face value. I just watched your youtube video and have some questions please?

I noticed what looked like some smaller bleached BTA's are they still in the system?

Do you directly feed any of the anemones pieces of seafood?

A HOB skimmer correct? The tank is not drilled to a sump?

Have you added any dosing products or any products at all?

Have you noticed the BTAs spawning?

Sorry for all the questions but I am just trying to piece it together as it really sounds like a bacterial pathogen set in, but why is the question I have.

a freshwater dip will not stress a fish terribly. its nothing they cant recover from. also like stated previously it rids them of infection parasites sickness etc. i think they are quite beneficial, if you dont agree thats fine im just giving my 2 cents and he doesnt have much to lose with his few remaining fish, if i was in this situation i would be desperate for something to try to rid my tank of this.

 

yea have 2 bleached anemone in there. been feeding them with small pieces of shrimp 2 times a week with a little garlic. They were part of a friends system and took them in trying to nurse them back to health so far has been quite a long time and are starting to get a rose color back. But they eat really good so think there comming along they were in sad shape when i got them not eating at all it was one anemone that split into 2. Felt bad for them so took them in Have had them for about 4 months and were snow white when i got them. The purple tip long tenical eats like a horse he if need be would eat about 4-5 hole shrimp a week if i would let him but he gets fed once a week also. Have a clown that hosts all 4 of them

The tank is drilled to a sump it has a 29 gallon sump with refugium the coralife skimmer is hanging on the sump down below on the intake side of the sump

As far as dosing dont really have too not too many corals as of right now and there softies when i do dose I use fusion 2 part but calcium and everything stays within range most of the time due to water changes I do every week

The BTA split in my friends tank but have never seen them spawn at all

 

Personally I would back off on feeding the sm anemones as frequently. They can expel the pieces of food after some hours and it has the potential to cause a bacterial problem. The tank is large enough that I would think that if one of the anemones spawned it would not cause a huge problem.

Sounds like you are doing a good job trying to rehap them but I would not feed them that often or any anemone for that matter. Digestion is slow in anemones and provides the perfect medium for bacterial growth.

No cucumbers or sea apples and the star fish is accounted for?

If it were my tank I would not add any products to the tank, change out the carbon, do a larger water change.

Sorry I can offer nothing specific in the way of treatment because I have no idea what you would be treating.

 

Could be velvet. Bacterial infections are more commonly, but not always secondary.

 

no sea cucumbers or sea apples and the starfish is crusing arond on the glass so he is GTG. Gonna back off on the feeding for the nems what do you recomend for a feeding schedule for them ?

As for treatment gonna be doing antibiotic and ich right now gonna quarentine the fish until the ick cycle has run its course and uv the **** out of the tank with a big water change and carbon change also so thats my start and will go from there
