Hi, My Klen's Butterfly wasn't eating for the last 1-2 days.. He was having some kinda shocks momentary.. but he was swimming and eating fine.. Anyways, yesterday he would hide and didnt't eat much .. Today he was taking deep breaths and died eventually. I couldn't spot any kind of disease at all.. Please look into the pictures and tell me if I need to treat the other fishes anyways. I have a 55 gallon aquarium, with a heater ( 78 F ), Aquac Realm Skimmer * Hang on *, 2 Marineland 350 Aquariums, a topfin powerhead.. around 40 pounds of live rock.. and 2.5 inches of sand bed.. live stock now I have is, 3 hermit crabs, 6 snails, 1 blue/green chromis and 1 Osc Clownfish. I've setup a 10 gallon QT tank.. Just in case I might need to use it. Please help me before I lose my other fishes.. i'm not sure what to do.. Maybe Butterfly was way too sensitive for a 55 gallon ? BTW, Ammonia 0, nitrates, nitrite are 0.. Though my ph is a lil low 8.0 .

    Welcome to 3reef.

Sorry for the loss that was a beautiful fish.

Myself would not treat the entire tank until you know that there is a disease process going on. You're right they are definitely more delicate and it may have just become too stressed during acclimation.

Thanks for your concern. I would like to add that the fish was there for about 1 or maybe 1.5 month.

    Ahh the rules out acclimation.

    What were you feeding it?

Brine Shrimp ( soaked in garlic ), Marine Cuisine ( soaked in garlic ), Spectrum A pellets ( Soaked already in garlic as it says in the container ) and Omega One flakes.

I would have to say that may be the issue, as well as what it was fed and how it was handled prior to being introduced to your system. Butterflies are highly sensitive, as well as having very intensive dietary needs, ie: live foods, polyps, zooplankton

hmmm.. Do you see any sign of parasites on this fish, the photos that I've shared in ? Any visible parasites ? I've a red spot on my chromis ( besides its gills ) .. I'm not sure what is going on.. Though my chromis and clown are very much swimming and eating..

When was the last time you introduced any fish?
Is the clown chasing or bullying any fish?
Have you disturbed the sand recently?
    Dosed anything?
Sprayed any products near the tank or in the same room?
Do you feel a slight shock when you put your hand in the tank?

The Butterfly was the last fish I introduced which was 1.5 months bck..The clownfish bullies him when he gets into his territory and that even when its night time.. the rest of the day they get along very well, swim together..I haven't disturbed the sand yet..Dosed nothing at all.. Though when I feed frozen food in garlic juice.. I do pour some of the juice into the tank ( though I try my level best not to ).. Haven't sprayed anything nope.. No i dnt feel any shock..
