    [glow=Brown, 1, 80%]Concentrated Vitamin & Amino Acid Supplement

    I included that part of the label because I thought it was significant.  How many of YOU take Vitamins every day?  How many of you take or drink some form of Amino Acid Supplement every day?  Uh-huh.  That's what I thought.  You are willing to shell out your money for yourself for vitamins and amino acids, but corals and fish?  Forget about it.  They don't need it.  Right?[smiley=wink3.gif]

    Wrong.  You basically have them sitting in a vitamin and amino acid deprived environment.  It's like, man I feed them, that ought to be enough.  How many times have you heard that you should be soaking your food in vitamins before you feed it to your fish??  And what about your corals and your filter feeding animals?  What are they going to do for food?

    Well, I would go out and buy, Reef Plus, Reef Trace.  That would be a GREAT START for any of your invertebrates that filter feed from the water column.  If you wanted to add some of the strained liquid from your ground up reef-mix (that we made in another post), you will have another great addition to the filter feeder's diet.  And if you have a refugium full of caulerpa, or some other algae, they are getting an adequate source of phytoplankton from the plants in your tank and refugium.

    Just make sure they get enough vitamins and amino acids they need to process all this food.  Just as human being need vitamins and amino acids, so do your reef critters.  Don't deprive them of this absolutely necessary part of their diets.[/glow]

    Edit: I forgot to tell you, my next review is Reef Trace

    Went out and got some today.

    The guy at the Aquarium Store seemed surprised at my interest in Seachem products. He stocks a lot of them but has very little info about them. I pointed him here and to Seachem web site.

    Thanks for all your great Seachem reviews Wrassman

    [glow=Purple, 1, 80%]Hey Jakets!!

    I know you just got things started back up and all, and it is probably too soon to tell how things are going on a "larger scale," but I would like for you to give us some feedback on your use of Reef Plus and how your critters are doing. Your experiences, especially from your "ground zero" vantage point, would probably be a great help to many who are thinking about using Reef Plus, or any Seachem Products, but haven't seen any "case studies."

    Your re-started tank could be such a "case study," Jakets!! Why don't you keep us up to date with feedback and impressions as to how things are going? I think many people would love to read it... [smiley=computer.gif] [smiley=book2.gif][/glow]

    Sorry Wrassman,
    I had promised to get some results posted on the suppliments I have been using. But my PH, Alk and CA have been all over the place for the last week, I didn't want to add anything additional to the equation while I got my head around what was going on. I now have the PH at 8.3 the Alk is at 7.7 but I dosed 1/2 teaspoon last night that should bring it up to 8.2dKH but will check tonight. I understand that natural sea water is around 8dKH but many people maintain their Alk at higher levels such as 14dKH. anyway I had 400 CA two days ago then last night is was at 330 so I'm currently dripping Kalk. and will measure later. I also will perform a 15% Water change tonight.

    Again as soon as I get a method to maintain these levels I will begin reporting on the Seachem products.
    Does anyone have a method they use to dose and maintain Alk,PH, and CA that they want to share. My Tank is in the Diningroom in a corner. so there is limited space and apperance has to be maintained ( or my lovely wife will finally pop a brain cell)

    J

    P.S. Wrass why so angry

    [glow=Purple, 2, 90%]Oh, I'm over being angry now. My kids, doesn't matter how old they are, are going to put me in an early grave...

    As far as a regular schedule, what I am doing is Reef Complete, Reef Calcium/Reef Plus, Alk and Buffer, twice a week, then start over. Everything is right where I want it, including Ca over 450 and dKH over 12. You should try to get on a regular schedule of Seachem Products, that would solve your problems -- no kidding.[/glow]

    Sorry more questions
    Are you dripping or just doseing?
    Is there any combination I should not add at the same time (5-10 min appart)

    Sorry Work has been really brutal lately and I really have to go back to Seachem WWW and read those articals again.

    [glow=Teal, 2, 90%]Sorry, Jackets. Didn't see that you had responded right away. [smiley=stars.gif] No, I don't drip anything. For my situation, it has always been too much trouble and not enough ROI (return on investment).

    Have you read all the dangers and caveats on Kalkwasser (Limewater)? And you are using it anyway? You are a brave man. [smiley=grin3.gif]. The last disaster I had with all the limewater going in a reeftank at once cured me for all time... [smiley=bigcry.gif][smiley=freak3.gif]

    I guess I'm not the best to ask about dripping. I find that a two or three time per week supplemental schedule much more effective, more precise, and more controlled. If you would like to put together a schedule that brings Ca, Alk, and pH in line, that takes about 10 minutes every evening, then we can sit down and do that. Honestly, that is all it takes, 10 minutes per evening.

    Let me know what you want to do!!![/glow]
