I was thinking of using a reducing coupling but a few guys jumped on me for even thinking of that. Telling me that I would reduce the rating of the overflow from 1500gph to 600. And that I wouldn't have enough flow through the fuge

Well, what does your pump flow? One gravity 1 1/4" straight pipe can handle 1,500 GPH by itself. I would not be concerned unless you were flowing over 2,500 GPH. Which would be a lot anyways!

I didn't purchase a pump yet but the overflow kit i will be using is a glass holes.com 1500gph with two 1 1/2 inch drains. im guessing it is the overflow box that can't handle more than 1500gph

I would agree with you. You should have no problem reducing both lines to 1 1/4".

Or, you could always purchase a different filter sock holder which uses 1 1/2" lines.

The piece with the bulkheads included with the sump is just a hang-on bracket; you could do something entirely different here if you didn't want to modify it.

how do you clean the filter sock on this thing? I have hard plumbing and the bulkheads block the filter sock from coming out

If you can't remove it you can't clean it which is a huge problem.

Yup; you gotta flip those over. They're only in there that way for shipping purposes.
