Problems with clams

    Hey guys, So acouple days ago i noticed my clam Gapping, i didnt think much of it because i thought it was just come and go, well Today looked the worse, im not sure what went wrong. Heres acouple pictures, it does look like it might have Pinched Mantle but im not sure .

    Current system is 60g
    6bulb ATI fixture
    3x MP10

    CA: 420
    ALK: 7.8-8.1
    MG:1300
    No3: .05
    P04: .02

    everything checks out fine i dont have any fish that nips on it. i dont see any snail pest underneath it.. any ideas?

    It's almost too far gone to tell if it's PMD, but it's a very good possibility.

    It's a Crocea so that does not play well in your favor.

    Are you running GFO?

    Yes i am using GFO, I really dont want to throw away an "alive" clam its just to sad to do, if i leave it in my tank do you guys think it will release anything?

    Naw you can leave it. The CUC will probably take care of it tonight.

    There seems to be a relationship with the progression and severity between the use of GFO and Pinched Mantel Disease. Add to that Crocea tend fall victim to PMD more than any other clam.

    If you have other clams you might want to consider how you will proceed.

    It should not cause any issue if it passes if you remove it within a few hours of passing.

    Thanks for the replies guys.. my Nassi. snails are heading to the clam right now. i beleive this is my last clam i will be purchasing. i have gone through 4 clams from the same LFS and they all died

    sorry for your loss. Im new to this. How can you tell thats PMD?
    And what is GFO?
    I have a maxima who mantle isnt coming all the out on one if the lips. I call the curve lips.

    Can you do a freshawater dip for 30 mins to cure PMD?
