I bought a Refurb 90g unit last year when I got back into reefing and ordered a new set of filters last week suspecting it was attributing to my algae growth that I had been fighting. When I took off the sediment and carbon filters, they weren't the slightest bit dirty or wet. They looked like they were just installed. I looked a little closer to the plumbing and there is no way water has been getting to those. It looks like my lines go straight from RO membrane to DI cartridge! When I received the unit originally, one of the fittings was broken but there was no hose plumbed in so I just removed it without thinking anything of it. Now, I've had a solid TDS thus far but I can't help but think that those 2 filters play an important role for the life of my RO and DI filters. I'm going to shoot you guys a call and hopefully we can figure this out.

Well after a day of calling and a left message with no return, I have to say I'm not happy. I'd really appreciate it if someone gave me a call tomorrow.

Thanks for returning my call Shane. Im going to replace that fitting, get it plumbed properly and see how the system operates. If I do need to swap out the RO membrane, I'll give you guys a shout. Thanks again.

Anytime Brett! It's good that you caught that mishap when you did. It certainly is amazing that your membrane still performed well under those conditions.
Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Shane.

Just so you're aware, that inlet fitting is not a 1/4" to 3/8" sized push connector. 3/8" is too large. Likely is a 1/4" to 1/4". And upon inspection of the outlet fitting for the carbon filter, it is cracked as well. Not having a lot of luck with this.

Thanks for following up. A couple of fittings and some hand tools later, it seems to be acting as it should. Im a little amazed the RO wasn't damaged.
