Guys I have had my tank running for only 2 months now and would like to start looking into docing to increase the necessary peramiters to keep sps and clams. Iv heard about docing kalk to increase calcium. My question is what parameters should i be testing for and what should i be docing with to increase them. Thanks guys

well you don't need to dose unless those params are low. whatever you dose you'll want to test for.

Your tank is not mature enough to house SPS corals. You should not do this. Dosing is used when your water parameters are low ie calcium etc. Do not dose until you test first find that your element(s) are low.

Test for Ca, Mg and alkalinity. What size tank do you have?

    +1 on those three.

I think Ma should be between 1250-1400

    Ca 380-450

    Alk 7-11 dkh

This article explained a lot to me

Is your tank cycled? Have you tested any parameters? Again though I would not place SPS corals in a tank this young

There is nothing wrong with gathering information and getting in practice to prepare for the real deal. Once Mawnkey gets the parameters stable and other corals growing then SPS is fine. There are some very hardy SPS like Stylophora and Pocillopora that are good to start with.

Thank you 2in10. I have a 40 breeder. I will not adding sps until I have stable parameters. I al simply gathering information. Okay so test for magnesium alk and calcium. How do get those params up if needed?

I suggest getting dry minerals from Bulk Reef Supply and mixing up solutions per their directions.
