That is already accounted for. It's the reason i made the tape walls. These have held extremely tight. The egg crate is nothing more than the frame really. Not even my wrasse can escape this ;)

I didn't tape it 100% coverage but did enough so that what was left was too small for any fish to get through. I didn't tape the corners, but on the other side there are the corner supports - it would be rather difficult for a fish to get through that maze... nothing stopping you from taping all the way either.

Do not, however, tape all the way to the bottom of the egg crate as you don't want the salt creep getting into the sticky.

Great project, Peredhil! It's amazing what we'll do to keep the fish in the tank! I really like how you built it around the lights. :)

"Fish Prison" - I loved that!

    Excellent idea.
I'm building a canopy with a full 4 corners rather than egg crate, but this will be a great idea to protect jumpers in my smaller tank.

    Simple, easy, no special tools...

    Great job!

I love your wall and will use for my tank also. One question, how do you feed your fish? I use a baster to feed them. I don't see a big enough opening to do this.

Man, I sure do have a lot of "I'll do this too" posts... to have only gotten one vote! ::) :p

Anyway, there is no roof. There is space between the back wall and the light.

I drop food back there. I also have one of those 33" "turkey baster" that I can slide down there to reach most of my corals. I have to take the lights off to feed a few of the corals... but that was true before the wall was here too... so not really relevant ;)

My tank back is up against a wall so my only access to feeding is in front. Any suggestions? Also, I wanted to vote for your video but when I went to the poll it wouldn't allow me to. Did you use electrical tape to block off the areas?

I don't see how the back being against the wall is relevant. I don't stand behind my tank.

My tank is set up in a corner wall area so one side and back wall are not easily accessible without using a ladder to overcome height of fixture. The left side is close to a TV and stand which kind of makes that side inaccessible. Maybe I could make a section of front wall removable for feeding?!
