If your parameters are stable then yes, it should heal itself. When the flesh starts to peel off then it's a sign of parameters if you have nothing in the tank picking at it. LPS corals are very sensitive to parameter swings and alkalinity is very important for long term health. In my opinion your parameters should read magnesium 1200-1350, calcium 430-450, alkalinity 9. The only way you can keep thone numbers consistent is with the magnesium. Think of it as an equilibrium for calcium and alkalinity. The biggest thing here cody is stability. Don't start dosing to bring the numbers up rapidly, make changes slowly. Once the numbers are where you want them I'd advise you to test through out the week, morning and night to see what your tank actually consumes so you can figure out how much to dose so your parameters stay stable. In our reef tank I have to dose 30ml of alkalinity daily so I break it up with a morning dose and nightly dose. The alkalinity also helps to stabilize the tanks PH which is important as well. I also do weekly 15 gallon water changes but it's not near enough to keep up with the corals demand. Take your time and you'll get the numbers good and steady.

    Yes, it can heal itself.

My brain was torn by shrimp(peppermints) it then healed itself but my params took a nose dive and water changes in the 10g wasn't helping. My brain started to recede and I thought it was lost. It was down to very little flesh.

As soon as I corrected my very low magnesium(1040), my ca and alk stabilized and the brain is has grown.

Mag is so important, like DSC advised.

I have to dose everyday because mine drops...alot

Mag is important like my husband DSC reef said. And also to keep all your parameters in check.

It's very slow swings..... But it's still swings.... I don't like to does in my tank as it's a nano.... Thanks again guys for you help.

Don't be scared to dose in order to keep stability cody. Since you have a nano the littlest swing can be detrimental due to the water volume. Take the time to figure out what your tank actually consumes then dosing accordingly is a breeze.

That's a really nice trachy cody, it will be just fine. Your gonna like coral pro salt. Follow the directions though. Only use Rodi water and don't mix it over 4 hrs. I start mixing then I do the maintenance on the tank and by the time I'm done it's ready to go. I use it in about an hour and a half.

Thanks brother, I did a small water change today.... I will do smaller more frequent water changes over a month so it dosent shock my tank from the change in salt.... I have read alot about this salt and I must say I'm very impressed.....
