It this a 2 channel (white and blue) fixture or more. It looks like only cool whites and royal blue LEDs. Is that correct or is there some violet LEDs as well?

It can be programmed, to handle up to four or more channels. We are also experimenting with Green CREE LEDs, and CREE UV LEDs... Our tester demo unit in the images has a variation of 2 Blue's and White LEDs only...

Sweet! 6 channels is perfect. Is this a mod that can be done by the end user or is it just something that we may see in future production units?

How would this function mounted on a 36" aquarium? It would obviously need to be suspended, but how far off the glass would you have to suspend it, and would it provide enough coverage for the tank?

This unit would function quite nicely for a 36 inch aquarium. I'd recommend to mount it approximately 10 inches above the water line, where it would provide a nice spread for coverage.

    Sincerely,
    OCReef
