Nitrate and Phosphate Help

wow, you've been a busy bee md! congrats on getting the ATS built. I know many people swear by them! As feedyourmachine said, it will take some time to see those results but I'm sure it will be worth it. Hopefully, you can get your questions answered in the Dr. Tim forum. I've never personally used the products but have read many success stories.

Yeah I figured it would take a little for it to start really showing results.
I roughed it up just like it said to in a post on here with a hole saw bit. algae scrubber basics was the post.
I am sure it will start to show me results, I have some patience so I will let it do its magic for a bit.

Had a little trouble with the build getting the slit cut in the pvc, had the right tool but the tool is broken. So after an improvisation got it cut and all installed pretty easily. I think i am gonna try the recommendation that was made to me by Dr Tim with the Waste-Away. Was hoping someone who has used it before would tell me about their experience before trying it but if I don't hear any feedback I will probably give it a shot.

On another note though, after my 20% WC on Saturday with a good cleaning of the rock and sand, It is showing signs of lessening growth. Before i started the 20% I was already seeing significant growth by this point and as anyone with a cyano problem can tell you, It will show up within hours of cleaning usually. So it seems I am on the right track with getting this under control.

 

I used it weekly on my wife's tank before we tore it down. Worked great.

Yes you are. Had same problem and started with your exact method. Massive water changes next. Snails and crabs was the next step and did wonders. Slam those little babies in there. My next step was the chaeto in sump. Cleaned up my problem in 6 weeks.

Everything is now staying constant. Nitrates float at 5 PPM using Seachem kit.
Phosphates always less than 0.02 using Hanna tester.
