Nano/Pico Tank

Hello, well my DT is doing good and now I want a small tank for my Bedroom something small 5-29 gallon, any who keeping some fish or maybe seahorses, what kind of equipment do you need for a small tank ie protein skimmers etc.

 

sea horses is a whole other ball game, I would do A LOT of research before you walking down that road. there are several small fish you can keep in picos.

i would stay away from sand shifting gobies though

Nope no seahorses then, I will stay away from them lol.

 

I do like pajama cardinals and purple fire fish, would also like to keep some coral in there when it gets bigger either frag it or transfer to my DT.

 

Lots of ppl run reef systems in small tanks with success as long as you are dedicated on weekly water changes, fish stock low, and maintaining then it should go smoothly.

I currently have a 10g innovative marine with a purple firefish. The fish is truly beautiful. It will be a reef tank soon

I also have a 15g standard tank with an hob filter and surface skimmer. I added the $15 surface skimmer and it really helped with the scum buildup.

You can run a skimmer on a nano but its not necessary and some research shows skimming tanks under 20g removes too much beneficial elements from the water
