Monti growth

How do you get great growth from montipora coral? I have a red Monti frag, it has great color just growing very slow. I want a nice white wring around it.

 

High light, high flow, elevated calcium, alkalinity and magnesium. Stability across the board. Oh and don't forget time.

Montis are quick growers generally.

 

Thanks VaReef, I don't think I have enough flow..... I run calcium at 430to440 and mag 1300to1350.... I have a power head just don't know we're to put it.... My tank is mixed softies, LPS and that one Monti.

 

VaReef, I moved it closer to the top and added my power head. My power head is directly at it now.... if it's to much light then I can move it around. I'll send a pic.

 

Now this is in a 29 biocube, so my power heard is a Rio 10. I don't want to have to much flow trough out the tank due to some coral I want in the future and coral I have now.

 

Keep an eye out for bleaching, coral looking light in color. It's gonna grow regardless, strive for color and stability. Those levels are good.

 

Thanks DSC I just retested those were from a few days ago. It Cal was 460 and Mag was 1400 ALK was about 8 so I dosed a 1/2 cap of alk. This should bring it right back to where it should be. It wasn't far out just like to keep it around 440 1350 and about 8 to 8.5

 

Oh and yes, I'm watching for blesching....
