I have/had a Large, dinner Plate sized Monti Cap and noticed some STS recently.
Params are awesome, and it's the only one of my Corals doing it.
It's in fairly high light, and Good flow.

I noticed my Orange Monti cap was quickly receding from the center area

I of course went Around the tumor, leaving only healthy tissue

Not sure I'll ever know what was causing this, and really don't care- as long as it's gone.

    No Kevin, not at all.
The receding edge would have a darker, almost algae looking fuzzy stuff too.
Then it would get pure white, above and below.
don't know what it its/was. None of my other Monti Caps have it thank goodness.

It was in good light/ good flow, and the rest looks just fine.

Interesting. Honestly, I think it will grow into a much nicer formation now that it is in separate pieces with several tiers. That Pocillipora should be happy too.
