And that is sort of how I see it right now. The benefits of LEDs are touted... which are true. Some high end makers bring some to market. Cutting edge high dollar stuff.... then every Tom **** and Harry lighting Co. undercuts them with crappy lights. Riding coat tails of the technology and making a quick buck. Not saying anyone here is.... just saying that that is going to happen in new technology... and right now we consumers are left to seperate the fact from fiction.

I appriciate anyone that tries to help that out..... as hard as it may seem to belive that some people will misrepresent and twist facts just to make a buck. I know, shocking.;)

I am hearing that there is nome new tecnology coming our way soon. possibly even more efficient than LED fixtures currently on the market. We shall soon see. There are also some new fixtures hitting the market with the 10w Cree multi chip diodes. This might end the need for optics thus increasing spread which to me is the downside of LED fixtures.

One was the Cree MC-E. I think it is a cluster of 4 xpe chips.
Another option could be the Cree XM-L which is a single chip LED capable of 1000 lumens.

The biggest problem for both chips will be having enough blues to balance out the look. Being a big MH fan, I like the point source lighting. The vertex fixture achieves this by clustering the LEDs in one general area rather than spreading them all over the fixture.

I can't find where, but some company has already released a fixture featuring XM-L's. It looked fancy...nice casing, open board look (so you can see the electronics)...but no real stats anywhere to speak of. I'll keep digging hoping to find this light.

In India we dont find orphek or other popular brand. I asked orphek about the delivery in India and they offer me a special price $550 including shipping for PR156W (120 degree lens). But here we can get chines product @ $260 approx. In Indian economy $550 is too much. Even we can get complete MH set @ $130 including electronics ballast and BLV bulb. So the situation is so tight.....::)

Is that price $550 US dollars shipped. I'm confused since we pay $850 or so.
