Leak again

Mate, you must feel like the luckiest or unluckiest person on earth right now regarding aquariums. Having 2 leaks like that in such a short time is hellishly unlucky but I guess being there to do something about it is the reverse.

Just a few thoughts that might help.

I am really sure that more floodings occur inside the home from dishwashers and washing machines bursting pipes or clogging than from aquarium tanks splitting.

Go out and buy a lottery ticket, it's your turn. ;D

I live in an area where there a lot of old homes, you know the type walk, in the front door and the crockery rattles on the shelves My home is like that and I have placed the washing machine in some 4 inch thick concrete blocks ( looks OK, can't see the blocks ). Thing is the machines are designed to be fairly much vibration free but the vibes exist and will pass through the path of least resistance. The concrete being quite dense means the vibrations stay where they are supposed to be, in the machine, and not through the floor. Even though I can't see how that could cause the aquarium seam to fail, but may give you and yours some peace of mind.

Just a precautionary measure I would also ask a third party to have a look at the stand. even with a spirit level measured diagonaly it could appear to be level when in fact it is slightly twisted, just a thought, nothing more.

I any case it would be a shame to decide to not start again, and if you want to see a case of determination have a look at Vikings website. His glass tank dumped all of it's contents into his lounge room, and instead of building a new glass tank he built a monster out of marine plywood with a glass front. Check it out

Cool. That's what I got in the greenhouse. It seems to be built pretty well. (I am having some UV damage on the centerbrace, but I won't go into that.)

You might have some 'fun' with the AGA overflow. Theirs make gurgling noises with the float going up and down. Also the slots are skinny so people wanting a lot of flow used a dremel to widen the slots.

I plan on doing that and using a durso in it instead of the stock AGA float. Let me know what you think.

 

I changed my Oceanic to a durso so I'm hoping I can just use that one. Thanks for the heads up
